This morning we woke up in a great Christmas spirit and we went to get all our outdoor Christmas decorations.We just moved to our house at the beginning of this year so it’s always exciting to get new stuff. After a few hours of successful shopping, we finally came home and spent about 4 hours outside. It was soooo cold! About 22 degrees in Jersey right now…so I decided to make mulled cider (with alcohol) to get warmed up. What a great recipe I’m going to share with you. Perfect for those cold Winter days that you want to be a little more playful than hot cocoa…I’m on my 3rd cup!
2 quarts of Apple cider
1 cup of rum (i didn’t have rum so I used Pisco instead. Pisco is the national peruvian spirit. A kind of brandy produced in winemaking regions of Peru and made out of grape wine)
2 cinnamon sticks
2 whole cloves
1 tsp allspice
1 orange, sliced
Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan and simmer for 5 minutes…cheers!
